H.-Peter Staudt, Dipl.-Ing., LL.M., is Emeritus Partner and Senior Consultant at SONNENBERG HARRISON from 1 January, 2024. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering from RWTH Aachen University. He has also obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) at the FernUniversität in Hagen in European Intellectual Property Law. Prior to his work as a patent attorney, H.-Peter Staudt worked for 10 years as an engineer in the automotive industry and was involved in the development of high-performance and racing engines at BMW Motorsport GmbH, where he was the responsible engineer for a Formula 1 team, and AUDI AG, as well as being an independent consultant. This long period of time in a research environment has not only given him specific expertise in the entire automotive industry, but also allowed him to become an inventor himself and thus to know from his own experience the perspective of a client in the field of intellectual property. In 1990 he joined a patent law firm in Munich and, in 1993, he opened his own patent law firm in Ingolstadt, which merged with SONNENBERG HARRISON at the end of 2023.
PRACTICE AREAS
He represents domestic and international clients worldwide with regard to the granting, defence and enforcement of their intellectual property rights, the drafting and handling of licences of industrial property rights and expert advice with regard to the freedom of operation, protection and enforcement of all forms of intellectual property rights. He is the author of articles in intellectual property journals, is a frequent speaker on intellectual property issues for organizations in the U.S. and Japan, and is fluent in English. H.-Peter Staudt is a member of the International Association for the Protection of Industrial Property (AIPPI), the International Federation of Industrial Property Attorneys (FICPI), the Licensing Executives Society (LES) and the German Association for the Protection of Industrial Property (GRUR). In addition, H-Peter Staudt was previously a member of the Examination Board for Patent Attorneys as an examiner for patent attorneys appointed by the German Ministry of Justice.
