Alexander Schmidt is a founding partner of SONNENBERG HARRISON. Alexander Schmidt represents national and international clients at the European Patent Office, the German Patent and Trademark Office, the Federal Patent Court and the Office of the European Union for Intellectual Property. As a European and German patent attorney, he advises his clients in litigation proceedings as well as applications for intellectual property rights.
   

PRACTICE AREAS

Alexander Schmidt has a university diploma in mechanical engineering from the Technical University of Munich with a focus on automotive and engine technology and production engineering. His technical field of practice is diversified due to the versatility of his modern mechanical engineering studies. In addition to classical technologies in mechanical engineering, he also works in areas such as electrical engineering and mobile radio technology, including integrated circuits, semiconductor and laser technology, electronic components, opto-electronics and sensors, information and communication technology and telecommunications.

In addition to his work in application proceedings for small and medium-sized enterprises at the German and European patent and trademark offices, Alexander Schmidt increasingly represents clients in opposition and appeal proceedings in front of the German and European Patent Offices, in invalidity proceedings before the German Federal Patent Court and the German Federal Supreme Court, and in patent infringement proceedings in the Regional and Higher Regional Courts. He is regularly involved in infringement proceedings for multinational corporations, often in an international cross-border context with a large number of patents.
